According to Chinese mythology, it was one of four sacred animals summoned by Pan Ku (the creator god) to participate in the creation of the world. It is greatly different from the West side, with a mixture of several mystical animals: Tiger Eyes, snake body, eagle's legs, deer antlers, bull's ears, carp whiskers etc. It symbolizes the wisdom and the Empire.
